SAN FRANCISCO – October 7, 2010
– Jabra, the world leader in innovative Bluetooth headsets and in-car speakerphones, announced today its new consumer-friendly Jabra World of Apps
, a growing library of third-party hands-free applications that are optimized for use with Jabra products. The Jabra World of Apps narrows down over 200,000 applications currently available worldwide to the top apps that work with Jabra’s Bluetooth® headsets and in-car speakerphones, allowing consumers to find the best app to suit their lifestyle needs. From voice-enabled music and entertainment apps to voice-to-text apps, the new portal has it all – and can be accessed at http://www.jabra.com/apps
Meeting the everyday needs of today’s consumer, the applications featured on the Jabra World of Apps offer unique capabilities when used with Jabra hands-free devices. Jabra products like the Jabra EXTREME, Jabra HALO, and the Jabra WAVE will be optimized to work with a robust suite of voice-enable apps allowing users to send text messages or emails using their voice, review email messages, verbally update statuses on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, receive notifications of missed calls, listen to customized music stations, upload and stream music via A2DP, find a business, or get local traffic reports and updates.
“There is so much exciting innovation taking place in the mobile apps space but it can be initially overwhelming to consumers. Imagine spending a couple of hours weeding through applications only to download an app that ends up being sub-par or doesn’t work with your mobile or hands-free device,” said Jonas Forsberg, General Manager North America, Mobile Division, GN Audio Inc. “The Jabra World of Apps offers our customers a unique freedom of choice – from productivity, entertainment and music, voice dialing and translation and GPS services.”
"We have found the Jabra World of Apps to be extremely useful in spreading the word that Bluetooth technology and Jabra's products can enhance the Slacker Radio listening experience," said Jonathan Sasse, SVP of Marketing, Slacker Radio
. "Jabra products compliment our service which is designed to enable mobile users to personalize their music listening experience. Pairing it with a Jabra headset or speakerphone provides a truly hands-free listening experience for consumers."
Created as a solution to easily find the best applications for Jabra hands-free devices, without having to go through the time-consuming and tedious process of weeding through all of the clutter, the Jabra World of Apps features apps that were both hand-selected and rigorously tested for quality assurance, performance and optimization with Jabra’s Bluetooth headsets and in-car speakerphones. The end result is a diverse selection of featured apps that can be found quicker and easier while providing customers the freedom of choice and ensuring an optimal experience with their Jabra device.
The ever-growing suite of mobile apps featured on the Jabra World of Apps includes a variety of applications to meet the user’s needs. “Don’t let the app choose you – you can choose the one that fits your needs,” said Forsberg.
