(NASHUA, NH. 20 FEBRUARY 2015) Jabra, a global manufacturer of intelligent headset and speakerphone solutions and Esna Technologies (Esna), a leading provider of real-time communication and collaboration software, have announced an integrated solution that enables full call control directly from the Jabra headset for customers using Esna iLink for Cisco™ Jabber.

This new integration leverages an innovative WebSocket interface developed by Jabra, which enables the call control functions supported on typical softphones to be also supported through the browser. Esna’s iLink for Cisco Jabber browser extension connects to the WebSocket interface using JavaScript and delivers to users the benefits of both a traditional phone and a softphone.

Cisco Jabber users are now able to perform a wide range of phone functions quickly and easily from a Jabra device without having to navigate to a softphone application. Features enabled include answering and ending calls, dialing using a keypad, muting or changing volume, and the ability to have a call ring through a phone rather than through the computer.

“Jabra has worked closely with Esna to ensure plug and play functionality with Esna iLink for Cisco, enabling customers to fully appreciate a complete collaboration experience and increased productivity,” says Chris Briglin, Vice-President, Global Strategic Alliances.

“We are pleased to make it even easier for Esna and Jabra users to use the devices of their choice when making and receiving voice calls,” said Davide Petramala, Esna Executive Vice President and Chief Evangelist. “Busy professionals value ease-of-use in their office technology and eliminating the need to navigate to a softphone application to handle basic call functions means a better, friendlier user experience.”

Two innovators making it easier for busy professionals to get work done

Jabra was the first to announce ‘built-in’ drivers with Cisco Jabber and was also the first to launch the Jabra PC Suite based call-control. Jabra’s built-in call-control with Cisco Jabber 9.6 and above supports the continued integration of Jabra audio devices with Cisco solutions, which enable businesses to make an easy choice on communication infrastructure and increase the productivity of their end-users at the same time.

Esna’s innovation centers on embedding communication tools inside the business applications people use every day. By doing so, people no longer have to use multiple applications to communicate and complete other tasks.

The Jabra integration is available today in the Esna iLink for Cisco Jabber Chrome browser extension and Internet Explorer add on. The plugin is simple to install and is available from shortcut in the device management area of the Jabra software.
