  • Compatibility

    • Do the Jabra PRO 9400 and Jabra GO 6400 series support Mac?

Although Jabra PRO 9400 and Jabra GO 6400 do not officially support Mac, both products have been tested on Mac Book, OS 10.4.1. USB audio, TX/RX works fine, i.e. via Skype.

The great thing is the auto-audio-link, so although you do not have EHS on Skype with a Mac, the audio link opens automatically when Skype call is initiated. As always on Mac, you manually have to change audio setting before the audio is handled correctly.

    • How do I update firmware on my Jabra GO 6430 and LINK 350 USB adapter?

A Jabra GO 6430 solution contains two devices that are firmware updated independently - the LINK 350 USB Bluetooth Adapter and the GO 6400 headset.

To update the firmware of your Jabra GO 6430 solution you need to update the firmware in two steps, first you update the LINK 350 USB Bluetooth adapter firmware and then you update the GO 6400 headset firmware via the travel charger.

Important: It is important that you update both the LINK 350 USB Bluetooth adapter firmware and the GO 6400 headset.

To update the firmware in LINK 350 USB Bluetooth Adapter follow these steps:

      1. Plug the LINK 350 adapter into a USB port directly on your PC.
      2. Start the Jabra Firmware Updater by clicking on the Windows Start menu and select All Programs > Jabra > Jabra PC Suite > Jabra Firmware Updater. The wizard launches.
      3. On the first page of the firmware update wizard, you select Jabra LINK 350 in the drop-down list provided. Mark the checkbox "Check for firmware updates on www.jabra.com" Then click on Next and complete the remaining steps in the wizard.
      4. When your LINK 350 adapter has been firmware updated unplug it from your PC and continue with an update of the headset firmware using the same firmware file as you just used for the LINK 350 adapter.

To update the firmware in Jabra GO 6400 headset follow these steps:

      1. Insert the GO 6400 headset into the travel charger and plug the USB cable from the travel charger into a USB port directly on your PC.
      2. Bring the headset into firmware update mode by double-tapping the MFB button on the headset (two quick taps with less than half a second between them) and make sure the LED on the headset turns pink.
      3. After the headset has been switched to firmware update mode you may see a "Found New Hardware Wizard" if you are running Windows XP. Complete the wizard using the default selections to install the driver required for a firmware update. See also DFU Driver installation.
      4. Start the Jabra Firmware Updater by clicking on the Windows Start menu and select All Programs > Jabra > Jabra PC Suite > Jabra Firmware Updater. The wizard launches.
      5. On the first page of the firmware update wizard, you select Jabra GO 6400 in the drop-down list provided. If the headset does not appear in the list verify that the headset is in firmware update mode (LED is flashing pink) and click the Refresh button. When you have selected Jabra GO 6400 click on Next.
      6. On page two of the wizard you select the same firmware file as you used when updating the LINK 350 firmware. Then click on Next and complete the remaining steps in the wizard.

    • Why will my headset not pair with my mobile phone?

      Please try the following steps:

      1. Make sure that the headset is charged and in pairing mode. If the headset is already turned on, use the multi-function button to turn it off (press and hold down for 4 seconds), then turn it back on in pairing mode (press and hold for 4 seconds). In pairing mode, its LED should be a constant blue color. If it is red, that means the headset needs to charge.
      2. Make sure that Bluetooth is active on your mobile phone and put it into Bluetooth pairing mode. The exact procedure for doing this varies according to brand and model. See your user manual for details.
      3. Remember that the headset identifies itself as “Jabra GO™ 6400” — you need to find and select this on your phone. You might also be prompted to enter the pass code “0000” (four zeros) to accept pairing.
      4. If you are still having trouble, see the section called “Pairing the Headset with your mobile phone” in the user manual for more information.

    • How does the Intellitone setting work on my headset?

How are the 0-4 hours defined? Does it average out the sound or does it just stop the peaks at certain levels?

According to the EC standards the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) during a full working day (8h) should be less than 85 dBA. For the Jabra PRO and GO products  this realized by having an Auto Volume algorithm running in IntelliTone Level 1-3 (4). In Level 3 the SPL is set such that it will not exceed 85 dBA.

Depending on your volume setting the Auto Volume function will regulate the received Audio (a.k.a. RX) so that the long term average speech energy is constant. At highest volume step, this target level will be approx. 85 dBA. For Level 1 and 2 where a lower amount of hours can be specified the target level is adjusted according to how much the user is exposed during this period. For example to fulfill the 85 dBA over a 8 hours working day corresponds to 3 dB higher level over a 4 hours duration. In this case the SPL can be set higher for setting 1 (0-4 hours) and Level 2 (4-8 hours) and still comply with the 85 dBA requirement.

    • What is the range on my Jabra GO 6430?

The Jabra GO 6430 headset supports the following maximum ranges:

      • When talking through the Jabra LINK 350 Bluetooth Adapter (softphone): up to 100m*
      • When talking on (most) mobile phones: up to 25m*

*In practice you may find the range to be somewhat shorter due to physical obstructions and electromagnetic interference. Also, if your headset is in power save mode, the range is slightly reduced. The sound in your headset will slowly deteriorate as you move farther from the softphone or mobile phone. Move back into range and sound quality is restored. If you move all the way out of range while talking, you will lose all sound.
