GN INTRODUCES NEW CATEGORY OF HEADSETS
Office professionals and ‘road warriors’ can now use one headset with their mobile, desk phone and PC

COPENHAGEN (September 2007) – GN, the world leader in innovative headset solutions, today announced the introduction of a new category of Bluetooth headsets that can be used with multiple communications devices. The new Jabra Multiuse headsets mean, for example, that an employee who works primarily in the field as a salesperson can use their Bluetooth mobile headset to answer calls on their desk phone when they are in the office.

GN will launch the Jabra Multiuse category with the introduction of two new devices that will enable select headsets to connect to desk phones and personal computers - the Jabra A7010 Bluetooth Hub and the Jabra A330 Bluetooth dongle.  The Jabra JX10-II, the BT5010 and the BT5020 are all designed for mobile-centric workers (i.e. those that spend more time out of the office).

“This new category will revolutionize the way people think about headsets.  No longer will workers need a headset for their mobile, another for the office phone and a third for VoIP.  They can use the same headset for all three forms of communication,” said Jan McNair, VP for GN Office Business Unit.  “Office workers are now more mobile than ever, dividing their time between home, client sites and on the road, but the need to remain in constant contact has never been higher, our new range of multiuse headsets will bring about an effective new way to communicate, wherever the user is.”

The launch comes as research shows that more and more workers are spending time out of the office.  IDC, for example, recently reported that 86% of personnel working in large enterprises spend one day or more a week away from their office.  In addition, flexible work schedules, which have emerged as a result of legislation and a desire to achieve a better work/life balance, are increasing demand for multiple communications devices.  A third reason driving the need for multiuse headsets is the convergence of technologies.

“The Multiuse category is the answer many technology departments have been waiting for,” continued McNair.  “IT Directors no longer have to provide workers with a different headset for mobile, desk and the internet.  That means significant cost savings, as well as a much easier time in supporting and managing the communications infrastructure.”

A connection for every need
The JX10-II, BT5010 and BT5020 will be able to connect to multiple communication forms via the launch of two new devices - the Jabra A7010 Bluetooth Hub and the Jabra A330 Bluetooth dongle.

Users will now be able to connect these mobile headsets wirelessly to a Bluetooth hub which enables the headsets to ‘pair’ with a desk phone and routes the call to the headset.

The BT5010 and BT5020 can also be connected to a personal computer via a Bluetooth dongle. Both the hub and dongle are ‘plug and play’ making them easy to install and use.

A choice of headset styles
The JX10-II is designed by world-renowned designer Jacob Jensen and is GN’s signature headset. At just nine grams in weight and with its own distinctive look, the JX10-II delivers six hours talk time and 200 hours standby.

The BT5010 offers outstanding sound quality and enhanced productivity with a long, 10 hour talk time and 300 hours of standby. Thanks to the integrated sliding boom – one of the first headsets to include this feature –the microphone is placed nearer the user’s mouth.  In addition, the BT5010 has been thoroughly tested to minimize airflow over the microphone which means there is less turbulence and therefore less noise, resulting in the user’s ability to hear conversations more clearly.

Based on Jabra’s innovative ‘behind-the-ear’ form factor, the BT5020 has been designed for a comfortable fit to be worn all day by busy professionals who need to stay in touch with colleagues and business contacts.  Great sound quality comes courtesy of noise cancellation and digital sound processing.

The JX10 -II, BT5010 and BT5020 support Bluetooth 2.0 technology and can be connected to both fixed, office phones  and mobiles, making them ideal for the busy executive working both in and out of the office.
