We're all ears
The GN research centre staff have a passion for sound and acoustics – to the benefit of headset users!
Customer experience and requests are GN’s best indicators when developing new products, and 20 years of dialogue and collecting feedback from our customers has helped make GN a global leader in headset solutions. The acoustic specialists in our research centre continue to come up with new solutions to meet customer needs.
"One of the biggest problems our research centre works on is reduction of background noise. The person at the other end of the line can often hear a rumbling background noise from the other personnel in the room – or even worse – can hear the conversation conducted by the person alongside,” says Lone Donde, Director Product Management of GN's Contact Centre Business Unit. She continues: "This can be a major problem in banks for instance, where it is very important that discussions can be held in private. That's why we've developed a noise-canceling microphone, so that the person at the other end can only hear the person he’s talking to. This gives the customer an impression of professionalism, and avoids the agents having to talk loudly as their voice can be clearly heard."
Look after your hearing
Along with having a noise-canceling microphones, it's also important to protect the agents’ hearing, as many hours on the phone each day can damage their hearing in the long run. That's why all GN headsets have PeakStop™, which ensures that incoming sound never peaks above 118 dB, protecting the user from acoustic shock. Acoustic shock is a harmful effect on the ear caused by sudden noises over 137 dB. The Jabra GN8210 and Jabra GN9350 also have the special DSP technology, which ensures that the average sound level over a period of 8 hours does not exceed 85 dB. GN's headsets comply with the tough rules and recommendations of the Danish Working Environment Authority on workplace noise.
Harmonic interaction
To ensure user experience is always good, the research centre test headset compliance with the many telephone systems on the market. "It's vital that our headsets can interact well with any telephone, to avoid poor sound quality if the two do not go together. That's why GN headsets are also certified for use with a wide range of telephone systems," says Lone.
