    • Jabra GN1000 Hookswitch

      The Jabra GN1000 remote handset lifter manually lifts the handset of the desk phone to make or answer a call. For instructions on how to mount the device, refer to the product documentation supplied with the Jabra GN1000.

      1. On the desk phone, unplug the handset cable from the phone body.
      2. Connect the handset cable to the port marked with a handset on the base.
      3. Plug the supplied telephone cable into the port marked with a blue telephone on the base.
      4. Connect the telephone cable to the handset port on the desk phone.
      5. Connect the Jabra GN1000 cable to the port marked with a red AUX port on the base.

  • I have distorted speaker sound

    1. This could be because the speaker volume setting is too high

    1. Make sure that you have power on the headset base/touch-screen

  • Why is the audio not clear when I use my desk phone?

    ​The settings for the Dial Tone Switch and the volume of the microphone must match the settings on your desk phone. Refer to the user manual to set up the Jabra headset correctly.

  • How do I get rid of the echo in my headset?

    The audio level of the microphone on your Jabra headset should approximately match the audio level of your desk phone. If you are hearing an echo, the volume of the microphone on the headset may be set too high. Try to decrease the volume, one step at a time, while you are talking. As the volume of the microphone decreases, the echo will also decrease or be eliminated.

    Refer to the user manual of your Jabra headset to see where to adjust the volume of the microphone.

  • How do I turn on audio streaming with my Jabra headset?

    Prerequisites

    You can turn on audio streaming by using the touchscreen or by using Jabra Direct. Follow these steps:

    Turn on audio streaming using the touchscreen:

    1. Make sure your headset is not currently in use.
    2. On the touchscreen, tap the PC icon to select it.



    3. Tap PC Audio Communication.



    4. The headset is now ready to stream audio.
    5. To close the audio link, press the Multi-function button, or dock the headset in the base.



    Turn on audio streaming using Jabra Direct:

    1. Open Jabra Direct.
    2. Click Settings.



    3. Scroll down and expand Softphone (PC).
    4. Scroll down to Manual control of PC audio from Direct Dashboard, and then click to turn it On.



    5. Click Apply.

    Open the audio link for occasional audio streaming:

    1. Undock your Jabra headset.
    2. Click the Jabra Direct logo in the toolbar of your PC.
    3. In PC audio link, click to turn the audio link On or Off.

  • How do I use conference mode?

    To use conference mode, you need a complete installation of Jabra Pro 9470, Pro 9460, or Pro 9465 and an additional headset.

    To set up conference mode, use the following steps:

    1. Remove the headset from the base, and set up a call. This headset becomes the primary headset, and it controls the conference.
    2. During the call, insert a secondary headset into the base of the primary headset.



    3. The following display appears:



    4. Select Sec. The secondary headset is now connected to the device.
    5. You will hear a signal tone in the primary headset. Press the Multi-function button on the primary headset to start the conference or coaching function.
    6. Repeat the procedure for additional headsets joining the conference. You can operate up to four headsets per base.

    Note: A secondary headset can leave the conference by pressing the Multi-function button.

    To set up conference or coaching mode as the default setting, follow these steps:

    This procedure also applies for EHS and USB modes.

    1. Open Jabra Direct.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. Scroll down and expand Base.
    4. In Headset conference mode, select End headset conference when primary headset is docked.

  • Setup for Desk Phones

    • How do I connect my headset with a Polycom IP 320, IP 321, IP 330, IP 331, IP 335, IP 430, IP 450, IP 550, IP 560, IP 650, IP 670 or VVX 1500 so I can pick up and hang up calls electronically?

      Requirements
      Jabra Pro 9460/9465/9470/Jabra Go 6470/Jabra Motion Office with latest firmware.
      Jabra Link 14201-17.
      Jabra 8800-00-75 for Polycom IP 320, IP 321, IP 330 or IP 331 only.

      In combination with one of the following phones
      SoundPoint IP phones running SIP software v 3.0 or later and BootROM 4.1.0 or later.
      Polycom IP 321, IP 331 running SIP software v3.1.2 rev. C or later.
      Polycom IP335 running SIP software v3.1.2 rev. B or later.
      VVX 1500 running SIP software v3.1.2 rev. B or later and BootROM 4.1.2 or later.

      Please follow these steps:

      1. Plug one end of the EHS adapter or cable into the serial port on the back of your phone.
      2. Plug the other end into the Jabra device base socket marked AUX.
      3. Connect the headset’s RJ-9 connector to the Jabra device base marked with a Phone icon and the other end on the back of the phone marked with a Headset icon (use cord 8800-00-75 for SoundPoint IP phone models 320, 321, 330 or 331).



      To configure your headset when connecting to a desk phone for the first time

      1. Follow the setup guide, in your Jabra base, until you reach the Desk Phone setup.

      2. Tap Guided.



      3. Tap Yes.



      4. Tap DHSG.



      5. Follow the onscreen guide to complete the installation.

      As part of the installation, you can dial into your local Jabra Setup Server which will configure the audio path.  Please follow the instructions shown on the display. If your Jabra Setup Server is unavailable, please contact your local Jabra Support Team.

      To configure the Jabra device when reconfiguring a desk phone or setting up a desk phone a second time

      Requirements:
      Jabra Link 14201-20 

      To connect your headset, please follow these steps:

      1. Plug one end of the phone cable supplied with your Jabra device into the socket marked phone on your Jabra device base
      2. Plug the other end of that cable into the socket marked with a phone symbol on the EHS adapter
      3. Plug the red end of the cable (EHS adapter) to the socket marked AUX on the EHS adapter
      4. Plug the other end into the AUX socket on your Jabra device base
      5. Plug the cable marked white and “D” to the socket marked Headset/handset on the EHS adapter
      6. Plug the other end to the headset socket on your phone
      7. Plug the orange cable marked “A” to the socket marked COM on the EHS adapter



      8. Plug the other end of that cable to the “bell” socket on your phone
      Please be aware that the device will not be fully functional until the colored markings for all cables have been connected to the EHS adapter (see photo).
      9. Follow the instructions on the Jabra device touch-screen:
        a. Select Phone setting

      Guided setup:

      Phone settings with device software version 9.xx and higher:
      Phone settings are no longer required.  Once the phone connector has been adapted correctly, a headset symbol should appear in the phone display.  If the headset symbol does not appear, please check the following settings:
      Menu>Settings>Phone>Phone connector>Activate/select handset

      Phone settings with device software lower than version 9.xx:
      Please note that the “Force Headset” function must not be activated on the device as this will prevent you from accepting external calls.

    • How do I set up a Jabra Device to work with Avaya Communicator for Microsoft Lync 2013 for Windows?

      Prerequisites

      Use these steps in the following order.

      1. Install Avaya Communicator for Microsoft Lync 2013.
      2. Launch Avaya Communicator for Microsoft Lync 2013.
      3. Plug the headset base into an AC power source and dock the headset. Allow it to charge for at least 20 minutes.
      4. Choose your preferred language for installation on the touchscreen.
      5. In Connect to a Desk Phone select No. (If desk phone installation is required, see the alternate guide on the touchscreen).
      6. In Connect to a Softphone select Yes.
      7. Tap > to begin.
      8. Select Avaya, and then select >.
      9. In Connect to a Mobile Phone select No. (If mobile phone installation is required, see the alternate guide on the touchscreen).
      10. As required, set personal preferences, and complete the introduction guide for the headset.
      11. Tap X to reboot.
      12. Make sure that the Jabra device is the default audio device in Avaya Communicator for Microsoft Lync 2013.
      13. Install Jabra Direct.

      3. Tap PC Audio Communication.



      4. The headset is now ready to stream audio.

      To use conference mode, you need a complete installation of Jabra Pro 9470, Pro 9460, or Pro 9465 and an additional headset.

      To set up conference mode, use the following steps:

      1. Remove the headset from the base, and set up a call. This headset becomes the primary headset, and it controls the conference.
      2. During the call, insert a secondary headset into the base of the primary headset.



      3. The following display appears:



      4. Select Sec. The secondary headset is now connected to the device.
      5. You will hear a signal tone in the primary headset. Press the Multi-function button on the primary headset to start the conference or coaching function.
      6. Repeat the procedure for additional headsets joining the conference. You can operate up to four headsets per base.

      Note: A secondary headset can leave the conference by pressing the Multi-function button.

      To set up conference or coaching mode as the default setting, follow these steps:

      1. Make sure the microphone is positioned close enough to your mouth to maximize speech quality and the noise-cancelling capabilities. If you are using a flex boom arm, position it approximately 1 inch from your mouth.
      2. Adjust the dial tone by slowly switching from A to G. Select the setting that that gives you the clearest conversation. See the following examples of switch settings. These will work in most cases, but there may be exceptions.

        • Switch A: Avaya and most modern IP and digital phones
        • Switch B: Cisco and Avaya Callmaster 5 and 6
        • Switch C: Kirk Delta
        • Switch D: Tenovis phones
        • Switch E: Innovaphone
        • Switch F: Different phone brands
        • Switch G: Toshiba (most models) and most Dealerboards (IPC and BT for example)

      Prerequisites

      To check for firmware and update your Jabra device, you must have Jabra Direct installed on your PC. To update devices such as Jabra Motion or Jabra Stealth, they must be connected directly to the PC using a USB cable. For some Jabra Link EHS adapters, you may need a micro USB cable to connect the adapter to the PC. Follow these steps:

      1. Open Jabra Direct.
      2. If a firmware update is available for your Jabra device, this is indicated on the main screen.



      3. To update the firmware or manually check for new firmware, click the Firmware Updater icon.

      5. The Jabra Direct Firmware Updater opens in a new window.
      6. Select your Jabra device, and then click Next.



      7. Click Download. When the download is finished, click Next.



      8. Follow the on-screen instructions. Do not unplug your device while a firmware update is in progress.

      Note: If you are using a Jabra USB dongle with your Jabra device (such as Jabra Motion UC or Jabra Stealth UC) it is recommended that you update both the headset and the dongle at the same time. The PC must be connected to the Internet to download the latest firmware.

      Note: To update some devices such as Jabra Link EHS adapters, Jabra Motion, or Jabra Stealth, they need to be connected directly to your PC by using a micro USB or USB cable.

      To check for new firmware, follow these steps:

      1. Open Jabra Direct.
      2. If a firmware update is available for your Jabra device, this is indicated on the main screen.

    • What is the range on my Jabra Pro 9400?

      The Jabra Pro 9400 supports a maximum range of 150m* from the base to the headset. In practice, you may find the range to be somewhat shorter due to physical obstructions such as walls, windows, Wi-Fi, and electromagnetic interference.

      The sound in your headset will slowly deteriorate as you move farther from the base. When you move back in range, the sound quality is restored. If you move beyond range while talking, you will lose all sound. However, your call will be held open at the base for 60 seconds, which gives you a chance to move back in range. After 60 seconds out of range, the current call will be ended.

      If you remain out of range for a longer time, you may need to re-establish the DECT connection manually when you return, by docking the headset to the base.

    • How does the Intellitone setting work on my Jabra headset?

      According to EC (European Commission) standards, the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) during a full working day of 8 hours should be less than 85 dBA. The Jabra Pro and Jabra Go headsets comply with this standard by using an Auto Volume algorithm running in IntelliTone levels 1-4. In level 3, the SPL does not exceed 85 dBA.

      Depending on your volume setting, the Auto Volume function regulates the incoming audio, so that long-term, average speech energy is constant. At the highest volume setting, this target level is approximately 85 dBA.

      For levels 1 and 2, where fewer hours are specified, the target level is adjusted according to how much the user is exposed during this period. For example, reaching the 85 dBA over an 8 hour working day, corresponds to an additional 3 dB over a 4 hour period. In this case, the SPL can be set higher for level 1 (0-4 hours) and level 2 (4-8 hours) and still comply with the 85 dBA requirement.

    • Best practices for rechargeable batteries

      These guidelines apply to the use of batteries in general, and do not apply specifically to their use with Jabra headsets. To preserve and store rechargeable batteries, use the following guidelines:

      • Avoid placing batteries in direct sunlight.
      • Avoid placing batteries in extreme cold.
      • Do not store batteries for extended periods without recharging them, around every 3 months for most products.
      • In daily use, it is best to return the headset to the charging base when it is not in use.
      • Always return the headset to the charging base overnight.
      • Note that HD Voice/Wideband consumes slightly more battery than Narrowband.

      If you handle or store rechargeable batteries incorrectly, their lifetime may be reduced.
