Advanced technology safeguards your hearing and helps comply with Noise-at-Work legislation

Increased safety

Jabra protects your health and safety in two key ways:

  • noise protection
  • improved ergonomics

For people working in contact centers and offices who are on the phone many hours each day, these problems can lead to long-term hearing impairment. In the short term, excess noise and poor ergonomics will lead to increased stress and general fatigue.

More and more, these issues are regulated by governmental organizations. We are proud that all Jabra products are compliant with – and often surpass – the strictest regulations and standards in the world.

Protection against sudden noises
Jabra products feature several techniques to protect our headset users. Our PeakStop™ technology eliminates sudden sound spikes that can cause damage to the ear. The cause could be a malfunction of the telephone system, or even an irate customer on the other end of the line.

Protection against high sustained noises
Even sustained noise levels can be dangerous if they are too high. This can stem from noisy machinery or headset volume that is simply too high.

The Root Mean Square represents the effective energy in sound waves. Leading authorities agree that 118 dB (RMS value) should be the maximum level for total sound exposure from a continuous sound. All Jabra headsets meet this requirement thanks to our built-in PeakStop active peak control gateway.

Improved ergonomics
Most neck and back pain comes from cradling a phone handset between the head and shoulder. This leaves both hands free to type, write, leaf through papers, etc.

Studies show that 8 out of 10 employees are on the phone for at least 2 hours every day – some for as many as 4-8 hours. A Swedish study shows that a full 26% of respondents claimed that their neck and back pains “totally disappeared” after switching to a headset.

And the results are fast, too. In just two weeks, a combined German/Swedish field study demonstrated significant improvement in the physical well-being in 30% of the test group after they switched to a wireless headset.

So, it’s not surprising that a comfortable, hands-free headset from Jabra can help significantly reduce a major health problem in modern contact centers and offices and eliminate unnecessary appointments with doctors and chiropractors.

Headsets as “pattern breakers”
A traditional telephone severely restricts the working radius of someone sitting at a desk. Not only will a corded Jabra headset increase this radius, it frees upper body movement. In fact, it is even possible to stand and stretch.

This effectively breaks the harmful established work pattern that results when people adjust to technology rather than technology adjusting to their needs.
