As the sound experts, we know the human ear best perceives sound differences in increments of 3 decibels (db) – in fact, it's something you'll find in most volume controls - each step up or down is an increment of 3db.

So our engineers have specifically developed our 11 levels of sound for the optimum performance. Each level – from full ANC to full HearThrough, and everything in between – is around 3db apart, delivering a noticeable change with each jump. With a maximum ANC level that’s one of the best on the market, our 11 levels are all you need for the optimum experience.

Developed by our hearing specialists, MySound expertly optimizes and configures your sound via an in-app hearing test, and then calibrates it on your headphones.

Using information from over 80,000 hearing profiles in a modelled algorithm, the test starts with an audiogram, and an option to enter your age and gender. This allows the software to make some predictions, which are then refined with a short hearing test.

The end result is music that’s perfectly tailored to your individual hearing profile.

The microphone holes in Elite 85t are individually drilled using a CO2 laser. This gives a smaller, more precise hole, with a considerably sharper edge, which reduces wind noise.

The vents are protected with SAATI Acoustex^® mesh, for maximum airflow and minimal dust ingress.

Of course, great design should look good. But we believe it should also be purposefully engineered, and fully grounded in science. We tested our design in hundreds of real human ears, and a range of KEMAR ear models – the industry standard for hearing aid manufacturers and research audiologists. So far, we’ve collected over 62,000 real 3D ear scans, and this huge wealth of data allowed us to identify 18 critical measurement points.

By layering the scans, we identified the key dimensions of the inner and outer ear structure, and used the combined data to create a virtual map of the average ear – the Mean Shape Ear. We then used this to design the perfect universal size and shape.
