What is an audio codec?
An audio codec encodes and decodes digital audio data to reduce file size while also retaining the highest possible audio quality. A codec is distinguished by bit depth (bits), bitrate (Kbps), and sampling rate (kHz).
Bluetooth connections have limited bandwidth and if exceeded, the connection and audio quality may be negatively affected. Many audio codecs have been created for optimal transmission over a Bluetooth connection, including SBC, Qualcomm® aptX™ and AAC. Audio codecs must be supported by both the transmitting device, for example your smartphone, and your Jabra device.
