FAQ

  • Audio

    • Why can I hear the incoming signal being distorted?

The Jabra LINK 850 features a powerfull DSP. The DSP gains the input signal to a certain level and makes sure that the audio is not too loud, so your hearing get's damaged. If the input signal is too high (the telephone plays too loud) and the LINK 850 gains it, it reaches the upper limit and the audio get's distorted. To solve this issue, lower the volume of the phone to a medium level and use the LINK 850 to turn up the volume.

    • Why is the Microphone and speaker settings in Windows not accessible?

To secure that LINK 850 receives a constant leveled input signal from the PC, the windows settings has been disabled. Speaker volume should be adjusted on the unit and there is no volume synchronization between the unit and windows. By doing this you avoid having double adjustability. The microphone gain is to be adjusted on the unit as well.

    • How do I activate the Noise-at-work feature?

At the bottom of the Jabra LINK 850, there is a switch which operates between Icons of shields. Default setting is one shield. This setting means that the unit is offering basic Peakstop protection, no signals exceeding 118 dB. When moving the switch to the double shield icon, the unit delivers maximum protection, which is in line with the EU noise-at-work directive. When this is activated, the unit will not play louder than 85dB in average over a 8 hours working day. This we call long period protection. When the double shield icon is activated the user is also protected by Peakstop. This we call short period protection.

    • How do I gain the microphone signal of the LINK 850?

At the bottom of the Jabra LINK 850 there is a knob which can be positioned from 1-9. The default setting when you un-pack the unit is setting 2. To gain the microphone signal, dial a colleague or friend, turn the knob clockwise towards position 9. When an acceptable level is reached, lower the microphone gain a bit to secure the unit is not transmitting too much.

    • I want to attach the Jabra LINK 850 to the table. How do I do this?

To attach the Jabra LINK 850 to the table, you have to first remove the circular plate on the bottom of the unit. This is done by turning it into the position with the "un-lock" diagram. Use the screw to fixate the attachment plate and place the unit over it. Now turn the unit into place, so it is locked to the table.

  • Technologies

    • Can the Jabra LINK 850 be disrupted by a device running another wireless technology e.g GSM?

No, the Jabra LINK 850 should not be disrupted by devices operating with other technologies. If you are experiencing issues with the Jabra LINK 850, it might be due to the analogue phone or the fact that the 2-wire telephone system is not tuned into radio frequency interferences.
